Sharon's obituary

Sharon L. Colberg, age 72, of McHenry, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 15, 1943, in Chicago, to Wilbur and Frances (Smith) Counley. On April 8, 1962, she married the late Jerry Colberg in Woodstock, IL. When Sharon was a child, her family moved to McHenry from Chicago, where she resided for over 60 years. She graduated from McHenry High School. Sharon worked as a brake assembler for over 20 years. She also was a part time attendant at the Citgo on Route 120.

Sharon is survived by her children, David (Mary Jo) Colberg of McHenry, Evelyn (Brad Elswick) Colberg of Harvard; nine grandchildren, Heather, Beth, Michael, Taylor, Tyler, Martin, Jeremy, Travis, Lisa; four great-grandchildren, Makayla, Lillian, Savannah, Ryan; five brothers, Tom (Marge) Counley of Arkansas, Terry (Fran) Counley of McCullom Lake, Dave (Candy) Counley of McHenry, Robert (Cheryl) Counley of Michigan, Jeff (Rose) Counley of McHenry; her sister, Berta (Jack) Bradley of Sarasota, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; an infant son, Michael; and her sister, Sandy Carre.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral service will be at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private.

For those wishing to send an expression of sympathy, her family suggests memorials to the Sage Cancer Center, 4305 Medical Center Drive, McHenry, IL 60050.
