My sincerest condolences for your loss. Loosing a loved one is never easy. During such a difficult time it may be hard to find comfort but I would like to share with you a beautiful promise that God makes to mankind. Acts 24:15 tells us there is a beautiful hope which men can look forward to, it says “there is going to be a resurrection.” May this promise that will soon be fulfilled give you comfort and endurance till the day you can see Sharon again.

I distinctly remember meeting Sharon in person for the first time at David’s retirement party. Her smile truly lit up any room/place she was in, and she had such a warm, welcoming presence. Even in that brief time with her and David, you could see her grace, strength, and the kind of spirit that made people feel at ease.
I’m very grateful for the chance to meet Sharon and talk with her. David, please know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers and I’m sending my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. Sharon has a special place in many hearts and minds, and even more special place in Heaven.

Sharon Barnes was one of the major spark plugs in the energy of the Walker High School cheerleading squad. I had the good luck and privilege to be with her on the varsity squad until she graduated.
Several times during the football season, the cheerleaders would come up with a skit to present to the school body. Sharon was always instrumental in creating a humorous skit that usually got a lot of laughs.
Always a smile, always a kind word, always upbeat. That was Sharon.
Although I have lost touch with most everyone on the cheerleading squad, I have read in the obituary what a marvelous person Sharon was to so many people. I am proud to have known her; to have shared a small sliver of her life.
I send my deepest condolences to the family. I know this leaves a huge hole in your heart.
Love,

Mrs. Bockmon truly changed my life for the better. I wouldn’t have gotten through middle school without her and the Mabry Middle School Drama Club. I remember days where I would look for any little break I had from class where I could go help her with costumes or props or anything she could need. She showed me that the stage was my home, and I will be forever grateful to her for that. I think my favorite Mrs. Bockmon memory would have to be when the school had a character dress up day. Mrs. Bockmon dressed up as Ursula and breezed into the theatre where kids were waiting to go to homeroom. She immediately burst into singing Ursula’s big song, Poor Unfortunate Souls, and she was performing it like she was on a Broadway stage. The normal kids were definitely a little concerned, but little theatre kid me was grinning from ear to ear as I watched her perform. She was the definition of a Drama Queen, as she so often referred to herself. So, rest in peace Drama Queen. You deserve it for all the difference you’ve made in the world. I love and miss you. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me.

Sharon was a lovely and talented woman. My life is richer by knowing her at Walker High School and in Civitan. She lived her Faith and I thank God for her testimony!
Rest in Power Homecoming Queen!

Sharon was a brilliant light, full of love, faith and hope. She was our “Towanda” in Team Towanda and taught us so much, including how to face adversity and disappointment, with all three of those attributes. She touched so many lives with faith, excitement and positivity…and shenanigans. She was always the life of the party and made things fun and full of laughter.
Sharon looked cancer in the face and fought it with every ounce of strength and determination that she possessed. Though it was the result we all were not hoping and praying for, at the end she was ready to enter the Pearly Gates and be with her Mom and Dad. I feel sure they are in Heaven singing and rejoicing together! Our loss is Heaven’s gain!
Sharon will never be forgotten . She leaves a big void in each of us but we will carry her spirit and love with us in our hearts.
Our prayers are with David, Dana and the family. God Bless and bring you strength and comfort. RIP Towanda! ❤️🙏🏻
