Sharon's obituary

Sharon Lynn Anderson passed away on November 6, 2022 in Kissimmee, FL with her family by her side.

Sharon Lynn Heidel was born on August 13, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was raised by her father Calvin Heidel, lovingly known as Pop. When Pop left to serve in the Korean war Aunt Erica and Aunt Caddie helped raise her until Pop and Uncle Marty returned home from the war. This is when she learned to make her famous German pancakes. Aunt Erica, Uncle Marty and Pop were strong role models for Sharon always providing love and encouragement.

In 1964, she had her first son, Joseph Michael Payne followed by Dwayne Edward Payne in 1965 and Joshua Nathan Brazil in 1973. This was the beginning of the My Three Sons Saga. With Dennis, Sharon and Pop raised the boys on the Hicks road farm in White Hall, Maryland on the banks of the Gunpowder River. On the farms, they grew vegetables including tomatoes, corn, squash, asparagus, green beans, and other things... They raised chickens, cows, horses, and goats. They even took care of stallions from the Ringling Brothers circus after the horses retired. Most summer days were spent sunbathing and swimming in the gunpowder river with the family’s german shepherds Rocky and She.

Unfortunately, Pop had a stroke and could no longer work. Sharon took care of him until he passed. This inspired her to receive her licensed nurse practitioner degree.

In 1979, with Larry, Sharon, Pop, and the boys all moved to Hanover, Pennsylvania. There, she worked as a private nurse and the activities director at Hanover hall nursing home. She grew a beautiful garden with large sunflowers and raised animals including Peacocks. She also participated in “Fresh Air Kids”, a program that introduced underprivileged children from the city to life on the farm.

In 1994, Sharon moved to Kissimmee, Florida where she spent the rest her life near family and friends. This included her son & his wife, Joe & Teresa Payne, her son Dwayne, Sandy Blair and Kelleye, and grandchildren Jaimie & Jason Payne. She continued working in the nursing field. Eventually, she retired scheduling nurses and therapists to go to the homes of those that needed it in the Central Florida area.

A longtime member of the American Legion, she joined the local chapter in Kissimmee. There, she met many lifelong friends. Soon after arriving, she met the love of her life, James Anderson, at Black Angus. She had a seat at that bar for a long time. This is when she became a true parrot head and fruit cake, listening to the one and only Jimmy Buffett.

Though Sharon said she would never marry again, one Easter she said yes and they married at the Tupperware Center. This is where her family continued to grow with more children and grandchildren, including Sean, Pam, Patrick, Brandon, Krissy, Tessa & Elijah. . Additionally, her family extended to Joan, Joe, Phyllis, Jack, and so many more!

Later in life, at different times, she became connected with her long lost mother and two brothers, Norris & Michael. Again, her family grew. This included Jim & Jayne Dodge, Holly and Elizabeth, as well additional nephews and nieces.

She is survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren in Virginia, Florida, California, and New Jersey including: Sarah Brazil, Tyler Brazil, Calvin Payne, Lila Brazil,  Miley Payne, Conner Payne, Sydney Anderson, and more. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's recitals, sporting events, and plays/musicals. She also loved bragging on their accomplishments from Tyler being student president to Brandon & Patrick and their many many activities in and out of school.

She also made many friends and even more family in her neighborhood, Broadmoor. She was the godmother of her next door neighbor, Winston Kahn, who she proudly spoke of accomplishments including law school and karate.

She enjoyed volunteering at Give Kids the World, as well as American Legion. She was very passionate about volunteering for the veterans with her father Pop, late husband James, Uncle Marty, and son, Josh, being veterans. Sharon and Sandy loved volunteering for the annual Poppies event in May.

She traveled across the country to California, New Jersey, Nevada, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia Beaches . She enjoyed cruises to the Bahamas. She enjoyed more than one trip to Jamaica. She loved music including Rolling Stones, especially McJagger (her main man, her squeeze , Janis Joplin and Jimmy Hendrix. There is a legendary story that she drove a painted up Herst behind the band's van and spent time with them backstage. On top of all of this, she loved her time on the boats (Mastercraft X7, pontoon, stars & stripes), being at the beach, and especially lying by the pool next to the beach.

Sharon was well liked and very much loved. She was a strong maternal presence in our lives and wore many different hats across her life: hippie, mother, grandmother, aunt, great grandmother, cook, farmer, gardener, volunteer, friend, parrot head, fruitcake, McJagger lover, sister, and godmother. She will dearly be missed.

Please join us for a celebration of life at the Kissimmee American Legion on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 11:30 am-3:30pm. Please feel free to post stories/photos on here but please consider e-mailing photos to her grandscon, Jason Payne, jcppayne@gmail.com so that he can add it to her memorial video.
