Sharaf's obituary
Born in India, Dr. Rehman was the eldest of five children with four younger sisters. Inspired by his father who was an intellectual and had a great passion for books and the Arts, Dr. Rehman developed his own passion for photography and film at a very young age.
Growing up, he was rarely seen without a camera, patiently waiting and observing through his lens to capture moments. After spending his early years in Pakistan, he moved to Turkey at the age of 16 to study film and photography after receiving scholarships. In search of further education he continued to England for one year and then on to Sweden where he settled for some time.
Over the course of his life, his passion became his chosen field of work. He used to say “it’s not work when it’s some thing you love, therefore follow your passion and life will be much easier”. This explains why he didn’t retire at the age when most people would. For him, that would be the equivalent of giving up a hobby, so he continued to work and share his knowledge mentoring the younger generation in his industry.
He was well travelled and worked across the world, and he lived life to its fullest. A thoughtful and charismatic individual, he was someone that left a positive impression on everyone he met.
Dr. Rehman leaves behind his wife, Siv, as well as his sisters and their families. It would be an understatement to say that he will be missed by all of us. May he rest in peace.
We welcome his friends and family to share photos and memories of him with us on here. Details on his funeral will be updated as we have more information.
