Shanta's obituary
She practiced medicine in developing countries around the world early in her career, most notably in Uganda in the late 1960s where she escaped revolution back to the United States in 1972. She continued to practice as a Pediatrician treating entire generations of children and their children at the Wauwatosa Children’s Clinic until her retirement. In her post-retirement, Shanta continued to support children’s focused charities, especially through training in the United States and India.
Shanta and Ranganath continued their love for travel and adventure well into their old age. She made her first scuba dive in Thailand at the age of 75 and her first bungee jump at 78 in Australia.
Shanta is survived by her brother Prahlad Ayengar and nephew Shyam Ayengar and fondly remembers the memories of her late-husband Ranganath Iyengar and late-brother Vishwanath Ayengar. She is also survived by her wide extended family of close cousins whom she loved and cherished dearly.
