Shannon's obituary
Shannon Dee Lee, wife, mother, and daughter, fell asleep in Jesus shortly after 8:00 p.m. on January 15, 2026. She was born in Plant City, Florida, on February 15, 1977, and spent the whole of her 48 years channeling survival and resilience.
Adopted shortly before her third birthday, Shannon’s early years included living in Orlando, Florida, as well as Great Falls and Conrad, Montana. Shannon was a Seventh-day Adventist who attended SDA schools throughout much of her childhood, where structure, faith, and community played formative roles in her upbringing. Shannon notably shared a close and meaningful bond with her grandmother, Kathryn (Kitty) Laubscher, who taught her arts and crafts, animal care, and an appreciation for country life—lessons that left a lasting imprint on Shannon’s creativity and love for living things.
Throughout her life, Shannon faced various challenges that shaped her life and story. She married Philip Lee in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 21, 2000. They were the biological parents of two daughters, Michelle and Hannah, whom Shannon maintained a relationship with through their early lives. She is described by her family as outgoing, caring, and friendly, with a deeply creative spirit, and she found a special joy in crafting, especially scrapbooking. She loved animals—particularly cats—and enjoyed movies and stories, with Olaf from Frozen among her favorite Disney characters.
Shannon is preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Kathryn Laubscher of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Philip Lee of Texas City, Texas; her biological daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Jonah Dinger of Rossville, Georgia; her daughter, Hannah Lee Busch of Columbus, North Carolina; her parents, Kathy Walker and Douglas Gies; as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, and extended family members.
Her life was complex, marked by both struggle and moments of connection, creativity, and care. She will be remembered for the many facets of who she was and the imprint she leaves behind. She is now resting in the care of Jesus, in whom her family places their trust until the resurrection morning.
A private memorial service for the immediate family will be held in North Carolina on the weekend of February 14-15, 2026. Official date and time TBD.
