Sergio's obituary
Sergio Adriano Massara, 70, of Memphis, TN, passed away on August 13th, 2025.
Sergio was born on March 27th, 1955 to Aldo and Lillian Massara in Cairo, Egypt. After graduating from the American Community School of Beirut, Lebanon in 1972, he went on to attend Syracuse University, serve in the Air Force and earn his Bachelor’s of Science with Honors with a concentration in Business Management and Computer Sciences from Rochester Institute of Technology.
He excelled in his career in IT focusing on Quality Assurance, specifically in Healthcare.
In 1984, Sergio met Myriam (Janneke) on a blind date in New York City. They quickly formed a close relationship attending Sergio’s family’s lake house on their second date. They married in 1985.
Sergio and Janneke had two children: Arianne and Stéphanie; and four grandchildren. They were the most important thing to Sergio. He centered his life around his family, retiring when his first grandchild was born, in 2021.
After retirement, Sergio and Janneke spent most of their time between their daughters’ homes in Boston, MA and Buffalo, NY. When they were not with their children, they were traveling the world to: Italy, Banff, Vancouver, Wyoming, Hawaii and New Orleans.
Sergio was predeceased by his mother, Lillian. He is survived by his father Aldo, his sister Monica; his wife Janneke; his daughters Arianne, married to Andrew Zorn and Stéphanie, married to Yuri Polyachenko; and his grandchildren Leo, Luca, Mila and Giuliana.
Services will take place at Brown and Hickey on Saturday, August 16th at 11:00.
