Selden Jo Kirby-Smith Marshall, 77, passed away on November 17, 2025 in Lewisville, Texas.

Born on May 25, 1948, in El Paso, Texas, Jo embodied the true spirit of a “wild child.” Adventurous and free-spirited, she developed a lifelong love of horses and spent her youth competing in rodeo events, including barrel racing and steer roping. She eventually made her home in Keller, Texas, where she lived for over fifty years. There, she took joy in raising her family, tending to a beautiful yard, and caring for the many animals that found their way into her life. In her later years, Jo was rarely seen without her most cherished companion, a blue nose pit bull named Annie Oakley Marshall. In accordance with her wishes, Jo’s ashes will be buried with Annie’s, returning them once again to each other’s side.

Jo is survived by her circle of loving friends, including Lavonna Gilbert, Cindy Bridges, and Serena Krieg; three grandchildren, Jenna Melofsky, Miles Silva, and Harper Silva; and daughter, Summer Orndorff. She is preceded by her grandparents, William Selden and Dolores Kirby-Smith; parents, Francisco "Kirby" and Ruth "Stormy" Kirby-Smith; and daughter, Holly Melofsky.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 7, 2025, from 2:00-5:00 PM at Brookdale Senior Living, located at 965 N Garden Ridge Blvd, Lewisville, TX 75077.
