Sean's obituary

Sergeant Sean Evan Prestridge, USMC, 34, of Alexandria, Louisiana, passed away on January 12, 2024, at his home.

Sean was born on June 5, 1989, to Michael and Stacey Prestridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He grew up in the Moss Bluff and Westlake areas. He loved sports and played baseball, soccer, and football. He excelled in sports and academics and rarely met anyone that he could not charm into being his friend. He was an incredible brother to all his younger siblings and a beloved son not only to his parents but later to his stepparents as well.

He graduated from Westlake High School in 2007 and attended McNeese State University. In 2012 he joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country as a Marine Corp Field Radio Operator. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant in 2015. His decorations, citations and medals include Marine Corp Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Service Deployment Ribbon, Expert Rifle Qualification Badge, Certification of Commendation and Letter of Appreciation.

When someone is taken so young, we are left with too many questions, but we are also left with memories of his gorgeous smile that could light a room, an infectious laugh, his love for his siblings and the overwhelming pride he took in serving his country. He often spoke about his family that, like so many in the south, includes more aunts, uncles, and cousins than we can list. He particularly spoke often of his grandparents and how he looked up to each of them. He relentlessly teased his younger siblings, but also protected them and loved them as only a big brother could. He also spoke of his dear friends and fellow Marines who were also his brothers, not by blood, but by heart.

Sean is preceded in death by his Grandfather Charles Permenter, Grandmother Beatrice Permenter, Grandmother Sandra Prestridge and Grandmother Helen Scott.

He is survived by his parents Michael and Wendy Prestridge of Cordova, TN and Stacey and Regina LeBlanc of Tulsa, OK, his siblings Krista and Natalie Prestridge of Cordova, TN, Jace Prestridge and Olivia LeBlanc of Tulsa, OK, Corey and Chase Clinkenbeard of Schulenburg, TX and Christopher Clinkenbeard of New Orleans, LA, Grandparents Glenn Prestridge of Houston, TX, Jack Scott of Buda, TX and Jerry and Sherry LeBlanc of Lake Charles, LA, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Those who loved Sean are left here to grieve and to support one another. If you want to do something in remembrance… Please be a shoulder for each other to lean on. Please do not wait to reach out to those you love and tell them you love them. Please check on each other and ask for help when you need it and always show kindness to those in need.

A Celebration of Life will be held the evening of Monday, March 18, 2024, in Lake Charles, LA, hosted by Stacey and Regina LeBlanc. The service will be held at Moss Bluff Events, 222 US-171 Suite A&B, Lake Charles, LA 70611. We will begin gathering at 5:30pm with a small service beginning at 6:00pm.

A Life Commemoration dedicated to remembering Sean will take place on Sunday, March 17, 2024, in Houston TX, hosted by Michael and Wendy Prestridge. Additional details to be provided soon.

Friends and loved ones of Sean are welcome to attend either event.
