Scottie's obituary
Scottie Louis Ryan, born on September 11, 1962, in Fort Gordon, GA, passed away on March 2, 2025, at Via Christi Village in Manhattan, KS, after a long battle with COPD and lung cancer.
Scottie grew up in Junction City, Kansas, where she attended St. Xavier's High School. She eventually moved to Kansas City, where she worked at Menorah Medical Center in medical billing and coding. Later in life, she moved to Manhattan, where she raised her children and continued her career at Pediatric Associates. She then spent several years in Topeka before returning to Manhattan to be close to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her five children: Avonne (Miguel) Rosario, Derron Ryan, Alisia Ryan, Aliyah (Martin) Nalls, Dominick (Garnet) Douglas, and her beloved grandchildren: Lariyah, Kennedy, Romeo, Rosario, Aniyah, Aiyana, Dominick Jr., Corban, and LaMiyah. Scottie is also survived by her brother Clifford Ryan, nephew Nicholas Ryan, sister-in-law Lizzie (Earnest) Skillern, and her best friend Sharon Stansbury. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Rivera, and her mother, Vicky Teirs.
Scottie was known for her love of fishing and enjoyed camping during the summer months. She was an amazing cook and found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren. She had two dogs, Princess and Dakotah, whom she loved deeply. A selfless person, Scottie always put her family first, often giving them the last of whatever she had. She had a passion for gardening, crime shows, and coffee, and she was especially fond of Coca-Cola. She also loved the Kansas City Chiefs LL Cool J and 50 Cent
Scottie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
