Scott's obituary

Scott David Rangel, 50, Also known as "Scotty" to most friends and family, of Overland Park, Kansas went home to be with the Lord. Passing away after complications from COVID-19 on January 16, 2022, at his residence, with his wife, Marla, by his side. Scott was born on September 28, 1971 to Juanita Menghi in Emporia, Kansas, where he spent his young childhood years before moving to Georgia and then to Texas where he met his first wife, Jeraldine "Jeri" Martinez Rangel, with whom he had his only son, Kristopher Rangel, Belton, Missouri. Scott was employed with The Raising Canes of Overland Park, Kansas where he enjoyed working and being part of The Raising Canes Team. Scott enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh and being with family and friends. He was a collector of comics and shared that passion with his son Kristopher. He loved to cook and enjoyed watching movies and spending time with his cats. He was also an avid fan of wrestling. Scott was a gentle giant, with a kind heart, that will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Scott is preceded in death by his father, Richard "Dick" Menghi and his maternal grandparents, Jose Merced Rangel and Guadalupe "Lupe" Rangel. He is survived by his wife, Marla Johnson Rangel, Overland Park, Kansas, his son, Kristopher Rangel, Belton, Missouri, his mother, Juanita Menghi, Independence, Missouri, his sisters, Constance Weiseler, Independence, Missouri, and Leslie Kitchings of Augusta, Georgia. Also numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Inurnment Services were held Monday, January 24, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Courtyard of Memories Indoor Masoleum at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas 66210. A visitation for family and friends was held from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas 66210.
