Personal note

The fiber community lost a champion of rare and heritage sheep breeds in a tragic farm accident. Those of us who knew Scott and Amy know what a wonderful, generous couple they are. Now it's our turn to help them.

Scott Manko was the husband of Amy Manko of Ross Farms for 13 years, a 5th generation farmer on their land in Eighty Four, PA. Amy and Scott work tirelessly raising rare and heritage sheep breeds, cattle, turkeys, hogs, and Miniature Mediterranean Donkey.

A fixture at fiber festivals, Amy and Scott turn the fleece of their beautiful sheep into quality wool and roving, and often speak about the importance of farming and heritage breeds. They are a gem in the fiber community, raising awareness, educating, and helping knitters worldwide.

Scott was a good man and an excellent husband to Amy, who refers to him as "the peas to my carrots." It's impossible to not think of them together working their Ross Farms fiber booth, Scott in his kilt and hand knit socks made by his wife, hat on his head, and a twinkle in his eye. Quick with a smile, a lover of whiskey, hardcore metal, Disney World, and animals, there are simply no words to express our grief at his untimely and tragic passing.

On December 4th, 2019, Scott went out to feed the animals on their farm and never returned home. His body was found in the early hours the next morning pinned beneath his ATV.

If you know Amy and Scott you know how kind, exceedingly generous, knowledgeable, and lovely they are. Perfectly matched, they often traveled together to Disney, ran The Ross Farm Mercantile, and recently opened The Shepherd's Inn.

In lieu of flowers or food, please consider donating to help Amy cover the unexpected costs of Scott's funeral and additional farm labor.
