Scott's obituary
Scott Hunter 10/5/59 – 12/1/23
Scott was born in Los Angeles, CA in 1959 and was adopted by Bill and Nancy Hunter shortly afterwards. He was the oldest of three Hunter children and attended elementary, middle, and high school in Los Alamitos, CA. Scott was musically talented and was a gifted trumpet player. After graduating from Los Alamitos High School in 1977, where his friends called him ‘Uncle’, he attended Long Beach Community College as a music major. However, at the start of his second semester, he got his first professional break and was hired to play trumpet with Thurrlow Spur’s Festival of Praise, a contemporary Christian musical group. He traveled and performed with the group throughout the USA for an entire year, including an appearance on the PTL television show in the 1970’s. He then joined the Spurrlows where he continued touring the country and doing performances. In 2001, he played a six week gig in Branson, MO with Ryan Dehughs. One of the greatest joys of Scott’s life was being part of the Long Beach Junior Concert Band. During his many years as a member of LBJCB he was involved in many performances, including the Santa Clause Lane Parade (now known as the Hollywood Christmas Parade) on multiple occasions.
Scott had many jobs in his life. He worked at Jack-in-the-Box, worked as a salesman for a printing shop, sold campground memberships, owned a Homes and Land magazine, and also did security work on the side. He is survived by his daughter Rebecca (Josh), sister Allison, brother Matt (Julie), and nieces Melissa Pirayoff (Dennis), Madison Hunter, and Amanda Hunter, and nephew Christopher.
Scott was a good natured, loyal, and friendly man. He maintained lifelong friends and was liked by all. He was also a lover of all things Star Trek (and in case you are wondering – his favorite captain was Picard). To our loving dad, brother, and uncle, we will miss you and may you ‘Live Long and Prosper’ in God’s glorious kingdom of Heaven where we will be reunited with you someday.
