Scott's obituary
Scott Alan Brown, 59, of Mint Hill, NC lost his battle with colon cancer on April 12, 2022. He leaves a forever hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his creative ideas, Dad jokes, and perpetual planning of home improvement projects. He truly brought laughter and a healthy knowledge of power tools to any situation.
Scott was born on January 25, 1963 to Paul Eugene Brown and Sandra Lee Brown in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was a standout football player during his high school years at the Benjamin School of North Palm Beach, setting multiple athletic records before his graduation in 1982, most that still stand to this day. After graduation, he played football for Wofford College, then shifted focus to study computer management at the University of Florida where he began his lifelong love of the Gators, wearing his beloved orange and blue team colors almost daily to the very end.
He began his professional career working in aerospace manufacturing with Pratt and Whitney, eventually gaining his pilot’s license and turning his passion for flight into a career as pilot for NASCAR, Carolina Cat, and a private contractor for the US military. He also built and flew experimental planes. In the last decade of his life, Scott was a brilliant middle and high school teacher in the subjects of STEM and aviation.
If there was one thing Scott was, it was determined... No matter what the challenge, he gave his all to ensure he exceeded all expectations for himself and others. This quality enabled him to expand his talent for teaching beyond the classroom to help community youth learn to build hot rods, win STEM competitions at the regional and state levels, and gain valuable life skills along the way.
A caring father, a loving husband, and friend to so many. He made friends easily with those that he met; he could talk for hours about his family, his strong faith in God, airplanes, hot rods, the Gators and Harry Potter (he was a real fan). Those who knew him will have a story of something funny or crazy Scott did.
His travels took him on a worldwide tour of the United States, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Europe, the Bahamas, the Caribbean and many trips to Disneyworld and Universal Studios. He also piloted relief supply mission trips to Haiti.
Scott is survived by his wife, Tracy Brown, his sons Derek (Hannah) and Travis, his daughters Alexa and Danielle, his “adopted” son Luis Arias, all of whom he loved deeply. He is also survived by his parents, Paul and Sandra Brown and his sister, Diane (Craig) Gibson, as well as his nephews Max Masiello and Tyler (Margaret) Gibson, nieces Lindsey (Josh) Cone, Madeline Butcher and Claire Butcher, his grandnieces Anna and Mary Caroline, his granddaughter Leia, and cousins Barbara Tucker, Marlene Arocho, and Laurence Allenbaugh.
Scott is now at peace. There will be a family celebration of Scott’s life later in the year. Until we meet again, Scott.. we love you now and always.
