Scot's obituary

Scot Rambo

May 13, 1968 – March 5, 2026

Scot Rambo passed away on March 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after facing a rare illness with remarkable strength, optimism, and grace. Throughout his life, Scot was known for his unwavering positivity, his deep generosity, and his belief that no challenge was too big to overcome.

Born on May 13, 1968, in Neenah, Wisconsin, Scot lived in many places that shaped the person he became, including Ashland, Wisconsin; Peachtree City, Georgia; Appleton, Wisconsin; Normal, Illinois; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; and Oakdale, Minnesota. Each stop brought new friendships, experiences, and memories that he carried with him throughout his life.

Scot excelled both academically and athletically. He attended Appleton East High School and the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, graduating with honors from both. A standout golfer, he was a starter on Appleton East’s state championship golf team and later qualified for the NAIA National Collegiate Golf Tournament while at UW–Eau Claire. As team captain, he earned recognition as an Academic All-American during his junior year.

Professionally, Scot built a long and respected career in roles spanning information technology, sales, business processes, and leadership. Known for his integrity, compassion, and commitment to helping others succeed, he approached his work with the same dedication he brought to every part of his life. His career included roles at State Farm, Banta Corporation, JJ Keller & Associates, Inc., Lytx, Inc., and U.S. Xpress, Inc., before serving as Vice President of Safety & Compliance at TA Dedicated. He also found great joy in combining his professional life with his lifelong passion for sports, working for the Green Bay Packers as a Guest Services Representative.

Service to others was central to Scot’s life. He volunteered with organizations including Habitat for Humanity, the Boys & Girls Club of Wisconsin, the Catholic Youth Organization, the Salvation Army, and Fox Valley Technical College.

Outside of work, Scot lived a life filled with curiosity, adventure, and a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed golf, fishing, skiing, hiking, frisbee golf, and wildlife photography—especially photographing owls. An avid runner, he qualified for and completed the Boston Marathon in 1997, finishing with a time of 2:54:56. When he wasn’t outdoors, Scot cherished time with family and friends, a good meal, and a favorite movie. He took pride in serving as Commissioner of the family fantasy football league and had a special love for dogs, especially his Australian Shepherds, Reggie (named for Reggie White) and Ozzy (named for Ozzy Osbourne). A passionate collector with a deep love of music and guitars, Scot found as much joy in sharing his guitar collection as he did in playing it.

Above all else, Scot’s greatest pride and joy were his children. He loved his son, Ben, and his daughter, Megan, more than anything in the world. He was eagerly looking forward to becoming a grandfather for the first time, with Megan expecting a baby boy this April.

Scot is survived by his children, Ben Rambo and Megan (Cade) Hunstiger; his parents, Chuck and Sharon Rambo; his siblings, Earl Rambo, Carl (Sue) Rambo, and Anita (Brian) Vanden Burgt; and a special sibling through friendship, Devin Rainey. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and colleagues whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, and generosity. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Dorothy Rambo and David and Caroline Nicholson.

Those who knew Scot will remember his positive spirit, his concern for the happiness of others, and the incredible attitude he maintained through both good times and difficult ones. His presence made people feel supported, encouraged, and valued. Scot’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he impacted, the medical advances made possible through his participation in a research program at the University of Minnesota, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
