Saunders's obituary
Mr. Saunders Miller, beloved son of Murray and Ethel Miller, passed away on July 19, 2025 at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia after a long illness.
Born on September 12, 1937 and raised in New York City, Mr. Miller lived, studied and worked in New York City, Minneapolis MN, Des Moine IA, San Diego CA, Washington DC, and Fairfax VA. He earned an MBA from the University of Southern California, an AB in English at the College of William and Mary in Virginia and studied Industrial Engineering at California State Polytechnic University.
Mr. Miller left an indelible legacy as a distinguished professional in the fields of Investment Banking, Venture Capital, Economics, Manufacturing and Government Service. As a United States Small Business Administration official, Mr. Miller served on The New Markets White House Task Force under the Clinton Administration. There he demonstrated his extensive knowledge in Commerce, Finance and Operations as the subject matter expert and architect of various SBIC regulatory policies and programs still in effect today.
As Author of “The Economics of Nuclear and Coal Power”, Praeger Publishers,1976, Mr. Miller’s analyses and recommendations concerning the economics of power generation offered an accurate perspective to help promote sound investment decisions into the process of establishing realistic energy policies and priorities. This work became a valuable handbook for energy policy makers, engineers, educators and students over the past forty-plus years.
Over his lifetime, through his love for Work, Business, Philanthropy, World Travel and Photography, Mr. Miller has nurtured a family of friends spanning the continents, who enjoyed his kindness, gracious generosity, sincerity, compassion and support. May he find solace in knowing that he was loved by so many who will remember him and miss him dearly. May Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, bless his immortal soul and welcome him into His Eternal Kingdom.
