Saul Alfredo Ruiz Garcia, age 82, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026. Born in San Juan de Teotihuacan, Mexico, Saul carried with him throughout his life a deep love for family, friendship, and the traditions that shaped the man so many knew and loved.

Saul recently celebrated 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carmen B. Ruiz, a joyful milestone they shared shortly before his passing. Together they built a home filled with warmth, hospitality, laughter, and love.

He was a proud father to his son, Agustin “Freddy” Ruiz and wife Tammy Ruiz, and his daughter, Renee Gathings and husband Ryan Gathings. Saul also found great joy in being a grandfather to Penelope and Joaquin Gathings, who brought him immense pride and happiness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Ruiz Pinete and Maria de la Luz Garcia Mondragon; and his siblings Sergio Ruiz Garcia, Oscar Compean Garcia, and Araceli Compean Garcia. Saul was deeply devoted to his Catholic faith. He attended Mass regularly and held a special devotion to St. Anthony of Padua, whose life and example were a source of inspiration to him.

Those who knew Saul will remember his warm smile and welcoming spirit. He was friendly, charismatic, and loved good conversation. Saul cared deeply about family, not only his immediate loved ones but also extended relatives and childhood friends, making it a priority to stay connected with those he loved.

The Christmas season was especially meaningful to Saul, particularly the celebration of Noche Buena. New Year’s celebrations often included calling relatives near and far, continuing his lifelong tradition of keeping family bonds strong.

A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held on March 27, 2026, at St. Brigid Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas. The Rosary will begin at 10:00 AM followed by Mass at 10:30 AM. Saul has been cremated.
