Saul's obituary
Saul Diaz was accepted into the arms of our Lord on the evening of March 08, 2023, at the age of 87. He passed comfortably in his home, surrounded by his family.
Saul is survived by his beloved wife Diana, his children Saul and Cecelia, Rose and Joe, and Perry, his grandchildren Diana and Joseph, Brittany and Ian, Brianna, and his great-grandchildren Zachary, Brandon, Luke, and Cameron.
It is beyond difficult to capture the essence of a man so greatly loved and adored, and even more difficult to attempt to share so many beautiful memories he created with his family.
Saul was a man of great integrity, faith, kindness, wisdom, perseverance, and humor. We were blessed to have had him as our patriarch, as he provided his family with so much unconditional love and guidance.
He was born in Durango, Mexico to Fernando and Trinidad Diaz and was the second oldest sibling to three brothers Juvenal, Omar, and Fernando. At the age of six, his family immigrated to California and settled in the Lincoln Heights area of Los Angeles. It was there he met his neighbor and love of his life, Diana Spadaro. They were blessed to have had a beautiful and loving marriage for 67 years. Oh, how he cherished his “Honey.”
Saul flourished in his job at Pennzoil where he proudly painted their fleet of trucks. His and Diana’s love of vintage treasures led them to open an antique store that they owned for several years. His joy for antiques extended to his love of classic cars, which he loved driving in his community’s annual Christmas parade.
He was the ultimate Mr. Fix-It and loved to stay busy while challenging himself to learn new hobbies. He enjoyed oil painting, woodcarving, bricklaying, gardening, and furniture restoration. He was our go-to for any DIY project!
Above all, he enjoyed creating memories with his family. Whether fishing, boating, camping, shuffle boarding with his brother Juvenal, bike riding, flying kites, or chatting over coffee, you were sure to have a blast with him! He was a great listener, easy to talk to, and made friends everywhere he went.
He showed immense strength, despite having survived a heart attack at the young age of 47, two triple bypasses, and prostate and skin cancer. Saul never complained nor allowed his aliments to prevent him from living a beautiful and fulfilled life.
There are no words to convey how deeply we will miss our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, friend, teacher, and hero. We love you forever and always.
Until we meet again!
John 5:24 Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.
