Sarah's obituary
On September 19th, Sarah Cristina Villahermosa passed away unexpectedly following a medical event. The exact cause is not yet clear. Sarah's last words were spoken to her husband, who lovingly comforted her. She was not afraid, and she was not alone. She passed from the care of her loved ones directly into the arms of King Jesus, who was waiting to say, "Well done," and who holds her now.
Sarah was born on May 9, 1983, in Highland Park, Illinois, but grew up in Gig Harbor, Washington. She was the cherished daughter of Andre and Margaret Snodgrass and the beloved sister of Heidi and Rachel. Sarah earned a degree in psychology from Toccoa Falls College in Georgia, where she also played soccer for four years. She continued playing soccer into her adult years, competing with joy and fierceness. She almost never lost a game of Scrabble.
After college, Sarah dedicated her career to social work, becoming a case manager and home study writer for a faith-based foster care agency. She had a deep compassion for the marginalized and vulnerable, especially children, and worked tirelessly on their behalf.
On December 31, 2010, she married the love of her life, Miguel Villahermosa. Together, they welcomed three beautiful children: Miguel Angel, Moses David, and Ellia Rae, who were her pride and joy and who loved her deeply.
Sarah radiated joy and approached life with boldness and confidence. Her default answer to any request was always "yes." She embraced every moment, sharing her musical talents as a worship leader in various churches and ministries. She was a loud and attentive fan at her children’s sporting events, often coaching and actively participating on boards, planning committees, and music groups, though she never sought those roles. Most recently, she began teaching fifth grade at Sound Christian Academy. In this new role, she found her true calling and planned to teach for the remainder of her working years.
Sarah brought fun to every situation. Whether there was a dance floor or karaoke machine, she led the charge, encouraging everyone nearby to join in the dancing and singing. Her love for her family shone brightly; she was the first to celebrate her children's academic achievements, treating them to donuts for every soccer goal and documenting every school award with photos and social media posts. Sarah adored her husband and often proudly boasted about him to others.
Above all, Sarah had a deep love for the Lord. Throughout life’s ups and downs, her faith remained unshaken. She clung to Jesus as her source of direction, hope, and guidance. Sarah was a down-to-earth Christian who understood her need for a Savior, rather than striving for perfection. She was deeply committed to her love and service to the Church, even when that service came at a personal cost. Her ministry, both public and private, was filled with grace, mercy, and love. She quietly touched many lives with her dedication to pointing others to Jesus. Sarah constantly ministered to those around her, a true peacemaker. She was selfless in this regard.
Sarah is survived and cherished by her husband, children, parents, and sisters. Those who knew her deeply miss her and the invaluable impact she had on their lives. Mother, wife, disciple, warrior, friend—Sarah is truly irreplaceable.
