Sarah's obituary

Sarah Nelson, 45, of Bellevue, Washington, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, August 1, 2025. The cause of death remains undetermined at this time.

Sarah was born on Saturday, January 19, 1980, in Kirkland, Washington. Arriving prematurely at just 28 weeks and weighing just over two pounds, she spent the first months of her life in the NICU at the University of Washington Hospital. She was finally released on Sunday, May 11, Mother’s Day.

Sarah attended Spiritridge Elementary, Tillicum Middle School, and graduated from Sammamish High School in Bellevue. She later moved to Rexburg, Idaho, to attend Ricks College, where she earned her associate’s degree. Following her studies in Idaho, Sarah relocated to Utah, where she completed the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program at Utah Valley Community College. She went on to serve as a dedicated and compassionate nurse throughout the remainder of her life.

She took immense pride in her role as an aunt, often referring to her nephews and niece as “her babies.” Her face would light up whenever she heard from them or had the chance to see them in person. From early on, she declared herself the “Fun Aunt” and delighted in emphasizing the vast age gap between herself and their mother (who was only five years her senior). Sarah was a listening ear and a person with whom they could share without fear of reprisal. She frequently went out of her way to attend their important events and spend meaningful time with them.

Sarah had a deep love for dance, a picture-perfect smile, and an infectious laugh. Sarah was an enthusiastic fan of Diet Coke, Costco, and sterling silver jewelry—especially bracelets. She always appreciated a fresh manicure and pedicure (especially if there was an opportunity to add glitter or sparkles to her look.) Her passion for fashion was matched only by her love for high-quality shoes. Rarely was she seen without a Michael Kors handbag, carefully paired with her stylish athleisure attire. She especially loved cheering on Seattle’s sports teams, regularly attending games for the Sonics, Seahawks, and Mariners— always dressed in fan gear with pride.

Sarah’s friendships—both lifelong and new—meant the world to her. She was deeply committed to her patients and brought light and laughter into every room she entered. She held her coworkers in high regard, especially in recent years, and often spoke of the individuals for whom she cared with affection. She will be remembered for her unwavering loyalty, generous heart, and joyful presence.

Recently, Sarah met David Conyers, and last fall, during a visit from her nephews for a Seahawks game, David proposed. Sarah was overjoyed to be engaged, and they had planned to marry in the summer of 2026. Throughout their relationship, she radiated a happiness that those close to her had never seen before. David was loyal. He treated Sarah with kindness and respect—and the two shared a deep and genuine bond based in friendship as well as love.

Sarah is survived by her mother, Lois Nelson of Rexburg, Idaho; her father, Kim (Tanya) Nelson of Middleton, Idaho; her sister, Rebecca "Becky" (Justin) Mumm of Rexburg; her nephews, Alexander "Alex" (Kylee) Mumm and Kolby (Abby) Mumm; her niece, Olivia Mumm; and her great-niece, Olivia Karren (daughter of Alex and Kylee). She is also survived by her fiancé, David Conyers of Seattle, along with many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and loved ones who cherished her dearly.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 2:00 PM at the Bellevue Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at:

14536 Main Street, Bellevue, Washington 98007.
