Sally's obituary
Sarah "Sally" Ballister Locke Scholl, age 70, passed away on January 6, 2024 after overcoming cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) but ultimately passed due to organ failure after complicated abdominal surgery, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was born on November 2, 1953, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Sarah served 2 years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay, and was a dedicated nurse for 50 years, working at various institutions such as Boston Children's Hospital, Healthcare for the Homeless, Pembroke Hospital's Mental Health department, and the VA Boston Healthcare System in mental health and recovery. After retiring and relocating to Las Cruces, NM, she devoted her time to volunteering and eventually working at Casa de Peregrinos, a local food pantry.
Sarah was known for her selfless and kind nature, always putting others before herself. She was a supportive mother, best friend, loving sister, and wife. A fighter who never gave up, she had a strong love for serving others and the community. Sarah was also an activist for human rights and a spiritual individual dedicated to her practice and serving a higher power.
In her personal life, Sarah is survived by her daughter, Isabel, sister Priscilla, brothers Edward and Charlie, nieces Elizabeth and Katie, and nephews Ben and Cory. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, mother Margaret, and father Henry.
Sarah's educational journey included attending Concord Academy for high school and furthering her education at Children's Hospital School of Nursing.
Her hobbies included volunteering, ice cream dates with friends, meditating, singing, acting, hiking, and watching crime shows.
A service to honor Sarah's life will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, from 1-2pm at The Vedanta Centre, 130 Beechwood Street, Cohasset, MA 02025, with light refreshments to follow.
