Sally's obituary
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Sara Isabelle Jensen Howery—known to those who loved her as Sally—passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, in Murray, Utah, surrounded by family.
Sally was born on March 31, 1948, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to Willard and Isabelle Jensen. She was married to the love of her life, Willard Michael Howery, on June 19, 1969, in the Cardston, Alberta, temple. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on faith and family. Sally’s greatest joy in life was being a loving wife and a mother to their six children: Mike, Sara, Julie, Jonathan, Aaron, and Jacob.
Sally’s passion for learning and service defined her life. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Music as an accomplished pianist and later earned a degree in Home Economics from Brigham Young University (BYU).
Professionally, Sally worked for Rhodes Bake-N-Serv for 30 years, dedicating much of her time to their Research and Development department.
However, it was Sally’s unwavering faith, compassion, and dedication to service that formed the cornerstones of her life. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and was devoted to serving our Heavenly Father in numerous church callings. She touched countless lives with her Christ-like love. Sally recognized the celestial potential in everyone she met and was always eager to lend a hand to ease someone else's burdens.
Driven by a deep thirst for knowledge, she loved studying the scriptures and sharing her insights with others. She found much joy in her relationships with her children, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends. Her home was a gathering place for family and friends, where her unconditional love made everyone feel welcome, accepted, and uplifted.
She loved nature and hiking in the mountains, particularly at Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta, where she spent many cherished summers.
Whether through heartfelt conversations or joyful laughter, Sally had a remarkable ability to find the good in every situation. She faced every trial with grace and resilience, drawing strength from her deep and personal relationship with the Savior. Sally consistently made time to offer support, encouragement, and love to others. She exemplified the principle: “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
Sally’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her. The world is better for having had her in it, and she leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, service, and unwavering faith. She will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. They take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband and her son, Michael.
Sally, we know that you are so happy to be returning to your heavenly home, and we look forward to the day when we will be reunited with you again. You have left a beautiful mark on this world, and your spirit will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved you.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Willard Michael Howery and her firstborn, Michael Glen Howery. She is survived by her children—Sara Isabelle (Abraham), Julie (Todd), Jonathan, Aaron, and Jacob—and her cherished grandchildren: Victoria, Michael, Maddax, Kamron, Joel, and great-grandchild, Eleanor.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Murray 1st Ward LDS Meetinghouse located at 755 E. Three Fountains Cir.
