SANDY, a couple of years ago I met your brother David and Carol, while researching my family history. The gails were attached to my grandfather's mother's family. We are family from a distance. Sad to recently hear of both your death and your brother's passing. Have a family pic to share. Rest in peace!!!

I was deeply saddened when I saw Sandy's memorial on the South Shore High School website. I haven't talked to Sandy for several years and did not even know he was sick. As I read the memorial, a very substantial part of my life flashed by. Sandy was a significant part of my life for decades. We met in high school and were in the same club. We then went to Navy Pier together and then Champaign. Then DePaul Law school together. I remember at Navy Pier, when I drove each day from the south side, Sandy asked me if I would give a ride to some girl named Holly. Little did I know that Holly would someday become Sandy's devoted wife. We studied for the CPA test together. We were moot court partners in law school. We studied for final exams together staying up all night. We had a real bond. We stayed friends for decades. For some unexplained reason we started to lose touch. No explanation and I regret that happened. I have wonderful memories of Sandy. I extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to Holly and the family.

Larry and family,

I am so very sorry for your loss. I enjoyed meeting your parents at hockey and loved reading his obit, what an amazing and interesting and bright man. Hope to see you at the rink, love to your family. Robin Freedman

Sandy will always be remembered as a calm and encouraging man. He was a true counselor to me for close to 50 years. He was a happy and proud Dad and Husband. He taught us all patience. He loved skiing with his family and friends. When he bought a motorcycle I thought he was having a midlife crisis but knew he would be “Mr. Careful” and he was. A great friend. A terrific lawyer.

Our prayers are with Holly, Larry and Michelle. His love for you was his guiding light in life.

Sandy and I were first cousins and enjoyed doing crazy stuff as youngsters. One Sunday, we made our way to a new interstate highway being constructed on Chicago's west side. It is now called the Eisenhower expressway. It was open-cut construction about 12 feet below the surface. We wanted a closer look so lowered ourselves on to the site of the excavation only to find it was a sea of mud...our shoes stuck to the mud and we couldn't extricate them. We no choice but to lift our feet out of our shoes and walk barefoot in the mud...we looked like a mess. Somehow are parents forgave both of us--but we never tried this kind of high jinx again.

Sandy was a wonderful, wonderful man. He didn’t have a mean bone in his body. Having worked with him, I will always remember him as a teacher. He not only explained the right way to do things but also why it should be done that way. It was important to him that you knew why. And he was religious about working out and staying fit. His Dad died young and he loved his family and life too much to let the same thing happen to him.

I’m so sorry for Holly and his kids. What a great man. He will be missed.

My Uncle Sandy was a great man. I loved him so deeply, and so saddened by this loss. I have many great memories of him as I grew up, and photos to treasure. To my Auntie Holly, I am so sorry for your loss of Uncle Sandy. To my cousins, Larry and Michelle, my heart goes out to each of you and your children.

So sorry for your loss, Michelle; it was a privilege to know your father. Reading the story of his life he was an amazing man and father....we will miss him greatly.

Dave
I unfortunately never met Sandy but I do know he raised a fantastic daughter. That is the greatest legacy a father can have. Best wishes for the family.
