Sandy's obituary
Sandy was born October 23, 1952 to J. Howard Jones and Dorothy (Elliott) Jones in Philadelphia PA, though they lived in Woodbury NJ. She was the youngest of two children, with her older brother J. Howard Jones Junior. She graduated college in 1975 from Columbia Union College in Takoma Park MD with her degree in teaching and a heavy minor in biology.
She was married to John Butler on September 21, 1980. They shared three children and two grandchildren. Daughter Sandra (Butler) James, married to Adam James and their children Nathan and Samantha. Daughter Ashley (Butler) Zhong, married to Jidong Zhong and a son, John C. Butler.
Upon completion of their studies and subsequent marriage, they settled in Woodbury New Jersey where Sandy grew up. For several years Sandy used her teaching degree in a career in elementary education. Eventually, she helped her husband launch a successful law practice, where Sandy worked until the birth of their children. She was a very proud and active stay at home mother for the duration of her children's youth. She was active in her Church for over 30 years and also served on the school board of Delaware Valley Junior Academy, a private Christian school at which her children attended.
When her children moved on to higher education and out of the house, she returned full time to her teaching career, first at Delaware Valley Junior Academy (which she attended in her youth, and her children attended), and then at West Palm Beach Junior Academy when she and John moved south in 2011. Her family, friends in the community and her students were a constant source of joy for her, of which she was happy to share with anyone who would listen.
The memorial service for Sandy Butler will be held at the First Seventh Day Adventist Church of West Palm Beach at 7:00 pm, Tuesday June 26th.
