Sandy Otis Jackson was born May 8, 1935 in Erin, Tennessee to parents John Leonard and Agnes Jackson. The second oldest of 10 siblings (6 brothers and 3 sisters), he acquired the nickname “Bubba” at a young age. Economic circumstances necessitated the growing Jackson family to relocate to Inkster, Michigan, where the Ford Motor Company was located in Detroit, Michigan.
