Sandy's obituary
Sandra Sue Scott was born on January 27, 1944 to Paul & Dickie Scott of Delavan, Illinois, where she also grew up. She graduated from Delavan High School in 1962 and attended Peoria Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1965 as a registered nurse; and would go on to work as a surgical nurse and plastic surgery nurse in facilities in Illinois, Kansas City, St. Louis, South New Jersey, Southern California, Maui, and Las Vegas. She married James Zarley of Peoria at the Delavan Methodist Church on June 12, 1966. They had 3 children: Matt Zarley of Los Angeles, CA, Chad Zarley of Henderson, NV and Sandra Elizabeth Zarley-Harris of Henderson, NV. Her grandchildren are Kiya, Jessica, Madison, Alexis, Kendyll, D'Angelo, Alexandra and Gabriel all of Henderson, NV. Her parents and one brother (Fred Scott) proceeded her in death. Her surviving siblings are Gayla Scott of East Peoria, Illinois and Paula Naffziger of Delavan, Illinois.
After retiring from nursing, Sandy split her time between her homes in Las Vegas and Maui. She would also spend 3 months of the winter in Florida with her 2 sisters every year. After retiring, she discovered a new found passion: line dancing. She would compete and teach while she was residing in Maui and later on in Fort Myers, while she was there in the winter months. She also had her own business making flower arrangements and selling them in craft shows and beauty shops for several years.
Her family is currently planning a "Celebration of Life" ceremony, which will take place in the late afternoon of April 27, 2018. Her family will carry out her wishes and spread her ashes in the Ma'aelea Bay, right below her condo that she loved so much. She will also have a portion of her ashes placed in the Delavan Mausoleum near her parents.
