Sandra "Sandy" Wendt-Rogillio
On November 25, 2025 Sandy went home to be with our Lord. She passed away at her home in Rosedale, Louisiana surrounded by her loving family. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend.
Sandy was born on July 31, 1952 in Chicago Illinois. She was the daughter of Charles A. Wendt (Chuck) and Petrina Chiarello Wendt (Pat). She was a “Chicago Girl” who loved her hometown and her Chicago Cubs. She attended Amundsen High school. Sandy was a free spirit and wanted to travel around the country. The year was 1973 and she hitchhiked down to the south. While in Biloxi Ms she was spotted by a young man stationed at Kessler Air Force base and he stopped to offer her a ride. She accepted and their love story began.
Sandy married Joseph C. Rogillio Jr. on September 15, 1973 in Baton Rouge La. They continued their adventures together. In 1975 she accompanied Joe “Rojo” to serve a tour in Korea with USAF. After returning stateside they went on to have three children. Sandy worked as a school teacher at SunnySide Christian Academy and Faith Academy. She also worked for the Louisiana Workforce Commission(ret). Throughout her life she served as an inspiration of a true fighters spirit. Sandy is a survivor of breast cancer, kidney cancer, brain cancer, diabetes, and multiple life altering surgeries. She was resilient, and her smile was ever present during her fight. She never gave up. She fought the good fight.
Sandy loved the Christmas Season, shopping days, soaking up the sun, and most importantly a good meal. She also loved good music, dancing, and laughing with her friends and family. She instilled in us a love for life. We will miss her larger than life personality and her honest opinions (even if we didn’t ask for one).
She is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph C. Rogillio Jr., two sisters, Vicki Wendt Dimpfl (Gary) and Pamela Balazos (Pete), her three loving children, Dawn Rogillio-Howell (Lance) Benjamin Rogillio, and Stephen Rogillio (Ali).
