Sandra's obituary

Sandra Robinson Stevens, 64, of Slidell, Louisiana transitioned to be with the Lord on April 10, 2024, with her family by her side at Slidell Memorial Hospital. Sandra fought until her very last breath before succumbing to respiratory failure during her relentless battle with cancer. Sandra was born October 04, 1959, in Newton, Mississippi and was a long - time resident of Westwego, Louisiana.

Sandra Stevens is known to many as the life of the party. She could lightened a dark room and turn your frowns into a smile almost instantaneously. But what she is known for the most is her big heart and her ability to draw in a crowd. Whether it was through her cooking, her imaginary storytelling, or sitting outside all day listening to music, it was always hard to stay away from her. Sandra could hold a conversation with anybody. If she is sitting on the porch, she is going to talk to anyone that passes by. There is no way you could ever forget her fiery and infectious personality.

To sum up a good day for Sandra, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her granddog (King Pot). She could spend countless hours tending to the thousands of plants she had. Or simply sitting around working on her crossword puzzles. She loved watching sci-fi movies and monitoring the weather. It didn’t matter where you lived, you can always expect a call from her letting you know what to expect in the forecast. And if you ever had a power outage, Sandra would have enough lights and batteries to light up the whole block. She loved her lights.

Sandra was a strong woman of faith and often did not look like what she was going through. She always believed everything was in God’s hand and He knew what was best. She never worried about anything, and she would never show any signs of weakness. She was a fighter and she fought to the very end. She is a perfect example of what strength in God should look like.

Sandra is survived by her three daughters, Ireon Robinson-Chau (Tam Chau), Dwarnitia Henry (Ryan Henry), and Kanelisha Daniel (Javen Daniel), nine grandchildren, Javen L. Godfrey, Alexis J. Godfrey, Tai A. Robinson, Briah J. Robinson, Joseph J. Robinson, Denvor J. Robinson, Silas A. Wilson, Beres W. Henry, and Isaiah B. Chau; her two great grandkids, Jrue and Amir Godfrey; her stepmother, Mary Robinson, her two sisters, Sonja Brown and Nadia Robinson; three brothers, Earl Brown (Maxine Brown), David Brown (Patricia Brown), and Vernon St. Amant (Nicole St. Amant); her longtime companion John Matthews, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace Stevens, her parents Charlie Robinson and Willie Ruth Robinson, Brothers Charlie Robinson Jr. and Jimmy Robinson, and Sister Shelia Robinson Doby.
