Sandy's obituary
Sandra “Sandy” Martin, 82, of Clarkston, formerly of Royal Oak, passed away on August 26, 2025.
Born October 1, 1942, in Homestead, Pennsylvania, Sandy was the daughter of Clyde and Florence Lewis and the twin sister of Linda. After graduating from Homestead High School, she worked at Union National Bank where she met her beloved husband, Bill. The couple moved to Royal Oak in 1968 and raised their two daughters, Debbie and Tammy.
Sandy dedicated her life to family, faith, and community. She was active in her daughters’ activities as a Girl Scout leader and booster, and later cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked in education as a paraprofessional, proudly supporting students in the Berkley School District. A devoted member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Royal Oak and later St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Troy, she also served with the Oakland County PEO, giving her time generously in service to others.
In retirement, Sandy enjoyed traveling with Bill, line dancing, and lunches with friends, but her greatest joy was always being with her family.
She is survived by her daughters Debbie Gray and Tammy (Dan) Gerard; grandchildren Matthew Wunsche, Allyson (Kyle) Masson, Katelyn Gerard, Andrew Gerard, Brendan Gerard, and Emily Gerard; great-grandchildren Emelia and Graham Masson; sister Linda (Russ) Williams; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill.
Visitation will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 5500 N. Adams Road, Troy, on [date] at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. and luncheon.
