“I am a former student of Mrs. Kistler from Huron Jr. High School in Northglenn CO. I was a student in her German classes all three years of junior high. She “followed” me to Northglenn HS, however, I didn’t have the opportunity to take any of her classes but we kept in touch during my time there.
I remember Mrs. Kistler as a wonderful, caring teacher, who injected fun and positivity into her classes. She genuinely cared for her students and brought life into her classroom. It was only later that I realized what she did for me and my future of learning.
My favorite memory of her was at my HS graduation. At the end of the ceremony, we stood in our respective lines to obtain our actual diploma. When I gave the person my last name, she looked and was unable to locate my diploma. After a moment of panic of how I was going to explain to my parents I really didn’t graduate, Mrs. Kistler approached me and said that she pulled my diploma as she wanted to present it to me herself!
When I realized it was Teacher Appreciation Week, my first thought of was my son, who is an elementary teacher, but my second thought was of Mrs. Kistler, who had such a positive impact on me (even as a junior high student!). Over the years, I’ve thought of her often and wanted to reach out to thank her for the impact she had on my life/education/outlook. Life takes over and it slips by the wayside. When I looked up her name, I came across her obituary and was greatly saddened by her passing. I just wanted you to know that she was a remarkable teacher who had an incredibly positive impact on me. My condolences for your family’s loss. I will miss her but cherish my memories of being her student.

Sandy and I attended Midland together and remained friends despite the fact that we were always miles apart distance-wise. When we were able to be together, we reconnected as if we saw each other every day! Heather and Lynette, your mom was a fantastic lady who always put anyone and everyone before herself! She will be missed!
Heather and family,
I was saddened to hear that your Mother passed away. Sending healing prayers and warm hugs. Thinking and praying for all of you 🙏.

"We were just listening to the director of Rainbow Camp hi-lite “Song of Blessing” as a special ending to the camp week. The lyrics were so meaningful, and we just hope you remember them and sing them in your hearts to bring you smiles in these days. “Song of Blessing” is an uplifting benediction and farewell to your mom, with words to cheer you as you travel on. We recognize the impact of the gift that God planted and nurtured in both of you through Lutheran Outdoor Ministries. Thanks to your parents for giving you these opportunities to grow in God's grace.
The obituary for Sandy is just beautiful. What a heartfelt tribute written in such a loving way. For those of us who knew Sandy – it just fits! And for those who read it in years to come – it seals her legacy with a personal dimension and sweet signature of her faith in God, love of family, and her joyful response in living of a life of service.
Ken has been thinking a lot of days gone by and all the cherished times with extended family - - that includes you two too! We truly enjoyed family gatherings when the Colorado cousins came for Christmas and special occasions. Thru the years your family was supportive of Grandma Arlene with visits, phone calls, cards, laughter, positivity and energy! Now it is our joy to gather with your families and be a part of your children’s lives.
We will miss Sandy - a very special cousin, - and we are thankful for the ways she touched our lives. Our memorial in honor of her has been sent to the Midland University student scholarship fund from the Ken and Mark Sukraw families.
Blessings and much love -

Sandy was a life long friend to my mother in law. She and Van attended our wedding in September of 2014. They were friends who instantly became family. We were so saddened to learn of Van’s passing not long after. Sandy poured out so much love to our family as she learned of our son’s medical complications from birth. She followed our journey closely and scooped up our family into hers as if we were her own. We love you, Sandy. You will greatly be missed💕
