Sandy's obituary

Sandy K. Boyd

June 24, 1946 – June 6, 2024

Sandra (Sandy) Kay Boyd left this earth on June 6, 2024, after a battle with stomach cancer. Sandy spent her final weeks surrounded by her wife and friends at her home in Tustin, California.

Sandy is survived by her wife Maggie, her sister Hali Beasey and husband Jim, her sister Lani Boyd, and her brother Tony Boyd and wife Laura. She is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews, numerous great-nieces and nephews, and a large extended family who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Betty Boyd, brother Gary Boyd, and nephews Cory Boyd and Robbie Gibb.

Sandy loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with work and meeting new people at coin conventions; hearing their stories gave her such joy. Sandy adored animals and was always surrounded by a cat or two. She loved to laugh and had such a fun, sarcastic sense of humor. Some of her favorite moments were spent at family reunions on the lake or simply relaxing with friends. In August of 2023, she was overjoyed to marry her partner of 27 years in an intimate, beach-front ceremony near Corona Del Mar.

Sandy lived in many different places over the years, but her heart always belonged to California. She loved the southwest, and her time in New Mexico taught her to embrace the local flavors, which led to her delicious version of southwestern posole. It truly was the simple things that made her the happiest.

While our hearts mourn the loss of such a loving, beautiful human, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. May she rest peacefully.
