Sandra's obituary

Sandra Louise Kaaikaula-Suminguit (nee Sheldon), age 73, beloved mother to Rebecca "Kapika" Kaaikaula (Michael), Gavin Kaaikaula-Suminguit (Ana), Bryce Suminguit (Lexi), Sandor "Sonny" Kaaikaula (Joleen), and bonus mom to Lopaka Kaaikaula (Donna) and Preston G. Suminguit (Pauline "Mimi"); cherished grandmother of Rachelle, Bobby (Raelee), Kristin (Edwin), Preston Jr. (Sime), Jason "Sukki," Kane, Robin, Kealani, Leilani, Kayden, Noa, Anela, Kai, Kilean, and Leia; great grandmother of Allison, Aidan, Braylen, Briella, Bryson, Austin, Blake, and Xander; and best friend and wife of Clarence Boyd Kaaikaula (deceased) was called home to Heaven on June 22, 2024.

Remembered as 'Sandy' in Denison Heights, Sandra was a tireless advocate for the community she and Boyd called home. Her efforts led to many neighborhood enhancements, including planting the beautiful cherry blossom trees that still line West 61st Street. She spearheaded the annual street garage sale, orchestrated numerous block parties, and collaborated with Cleveland's Second District Police Department to establish the neighborhood watch program. She even organized marches with the Guardian Angels to combat gang violence in her beloved inner-city Cleveland community.

Sandra was devoted to her family and held dinner every Sunday, welcoming friends and family to a table of home-cooked food she prepared. Her specialties included beef roasts, breaded pork chops, and her famous pumpkin pies.

A Mass to celebrate Sandra's life will be held at Saint Ambrose Parish on Friday, July 5, at 2:00 pm. We invite you to join us in honoring her memory and sharing stories of her remarkable life. A luncheon will follow.

Sandra loved bird watching and gardening. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made at www. everloved.com/life-of/sandra-… that will go towards a memorial gift that will be established to enhance one of the beautiful gardens at Saint Ambrose Parish.
