Personal note from Sandra’s Family

On Tuesday morning, March 21st, 2023, our strong, smart, beautiful, stubborn, and passionate Sandra (“Sandy”) left this world way too early at the age of 62. She was a beloved mother to Amy (Carlson) Andonian, Robert Carlson, Jr., Ann (Carlson) Enriquez, and William Carlson. She is survived by her nine beautiful grandchildren, Taylor, Alexa, Ava, Lily, Atlas, Elin, Axel, Ilsa, and Aila, and her sons-in-law Tim Andonian and Brian Enriquez and her daughters-in-law Michele (Lesh) Carlson and Jamie (Roman) Carlson. She joins her mother and father, Marie and Ted Komperda, in heaven now. She loved her five sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins back home in Chicago so darn much - family meant everything to her. And second to family came her work. Working her way up the ladder from being a boots-on-the-ground ER nurse in South Chicago to a true leader and visionary within the healthcare sector in California, Sandy poured her heart and soul into her work, and inspired and touched so many lives at the different organizations that she worked for in California. Lastly, in the past few years, she found a kind, gentle man and true friend, Dirk, who finally bestowed upon her the love and respect and happiness that she always wanted and deserved. She was able to buy her very own home in Discovery Bay, CA, and adopted three rescue dogs that brought her so much joy. Life was good.

Her departure leaves big holes in our hearts, but we are proud to celebrate her life and legacy and hope that her 62-year journey inspires you to live and love your own lives to the fullest!

Rest in peace, Sandra. You are finally home.
