Sandy's obituary

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Sandy Jean Holzinger-Sanchez, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend. Born on October 1, 1964, Sandra left us on July 26, 2023, leaving a void that can never be filled.

Sandy's memory will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, Michael Sanchez, and her son, James Quinn. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Natalie Quinn, who she considered as her own daughter. Her brothers, Andrew, David, and Bobby Holzinger, and her sisters, Susan Holzinger and Karen Dupont, will remember her humor, grace, and fortitude.

Sandy was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Eleanor Holzinger, and her loving Aunt, Loretta Vieyra. They have welcomed her to a peaceful place beyond this realm.

Sandy's personality was a blend of kindness, spontaneity, generosity, care, humor, and a touch of quirkiness. She was unapologetically herself, and her non-judgmental demeanor and infectious laughter drew people towards her.

Life lessons from Sandy were lessons of love, joy, and embracing the present. She advocated that life is a treasured gift and encouraged all to live for today and not to take things too seriously. Her spirit was one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

Sandy enjoyed being active, especially in the outdoors weather that meant camping, hiking, bird whispering, or visiting national and state parks. She had an obsession with karaoke and giving out prizes to the winners of games/activities.  She and Michael also enjoyed antiquing, going to craft breweries, spending time in the tiki scene, and meeting with James and Natalie for weekends in Palm Springs.

Some of Sandy's accomplishments included learning to play the violin, mastering the art of belly dancing, and learning hapkido. She also spent the 34 years leading up to her retirement working for Union Bank. However, her most cherished moments were marrying her soulmate, Michael, and giving birth to her son, James.

Sandy leaves a legacy of courage and kindness. Her strength in facing her cancer diagnosis and her determination to live each day to the fullest inspired everyone around her. She demonstrated that every moment should be treasured, and every joy celebrated.

Her memory will be cherished not only by her human family but also by her two fur grandsons, Melvin and Frankie, who brought her immense joy and comfort.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Foundation for Women's Cancer. These funds will be a tribute to Sandra's fighting spirit and will provide others with the resources they need in their battles. Donations can be made at https://everloved.com/life-of… or directly through the Foundation for Women's Cancer website at https://foundationforwomenscancer.org/support-us/donate/

Though Sandy is no longer with us, her loving spirit, her unwavering courage, and her vibrant laughter will forever resonate in our hearts.
