Sandra's obituary
To know her was to witness a force of nature—unyielding, fiercely independent, and a rare spirit
whose strength and light reshaped everyone lucky enough to know her. Sandra “Sandi” Holahan
passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, with her beloved sons at her side. Born in Boston on
May 21, 1943, Sandi remained devoted to the city she called home throughout her life.
Sandi dedicated 40 years to the Federal Court system in Boston, carrying with her a steadfast
moral compass that defined not only her career, but the way she lived each day—with integrity,
strength, and quiet resilience.
In her passing, she is reunited with her life partner, Bill McMahon, whom she loved deeply and
missed dearly. Together, they shared a vibrant life—nights out in Boston discovering new
restaurants (while always returning to their cherished favorites), attending shows, and enjoying
time at the casino. She had a love for travel, especially to warmer climates with her
granddaughter, but her favorite destination was Sarasota, Florida, where she visited her lifelong
friend, Linda Degroot, and her husband Frank. Those trips were filled with laughter, warmth, and memories she carried
with her always.
Above all else, Sandi treasured her family. Her greatest joy was the time spent with her sons,
whose presence was the center of her world. She was their constant—strong, devoted, and
unwavering—offering guidance, humor, and unconditional love throughout their lives. Whether
gathered for dinner, sharing drinks, or simply sitting together in the living room talking and
catching up, those moments meant everything to her. The bond she shared with her sons was
profound and enduring, a reflection of the love and strength that defined her life.
Her granddaughter, Jaclyn, held a uniquely special place in her heart. Their bond was filled with
love, laughter, and cherished time spent side by side—whether traveling together, sharing
stories, or simply enjoying each other’s company. Sandi took immense pride in her
granddaughter and found great joy in watching her grow, always offering quiet support, wisdom,
and encouragement. The love they shared was deep and unmistakable, a connection that will
continue to be felt always.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Holahan Jr. and Daniel Holahan; her beloved
granddaughter, Jaclyn Holahan; her grandsons, Aidan Holahan and Angel Griffin; her
daughters-in-law, Linda Holahan and Debra Griffin; and her sisters, Ruthanne Pearson and
Marjorie Caloggero.
Sandi will be remembered for her strength, her independence, her sharp wit, and the deep love
she gave so freely to those closest to her. Her presence was powerful, her laughter
unforgettable, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held at Princeton Station, Chelmsford, MA on May 22nd at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandi’s memory to a cancer foundation of your
choice, or to The American Cancer Foundation, in honor of her strength and enduring spirit.
