Sandy's obituary

Sandra Joy (Briggs) Giunti, or as her loved ones affectionately called her, Sandy. Born on October 11, 1939, in Oakland, California, Sandy's early years were marked by resilience, guiding her through her formative years to become the remarkable woman she was.

As she grew older, Sandy's passion for education blossomed. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1957 and later from Chico State in 1961, where she was the President of her sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta, laying the foundation for her future career as a teacher. After completing her education, Sandy embarked on a journey that would define her life's work.

While working at a dress shop in North Beach, San Francisco, she caught the eye of Max, a charming tour director from Naples, Italy. Their love story led to a 49 year marriage filled with extensive travels around the world.

Sandy's dedication to her family was unwavering. She cherished her daughters, Adrienne and Karen. As a mother, Sandy was selfless and devoted, always putting her family's needs before her own.

Sandy's love extended far beyond her immediate family. As a teacher, Sandy was beloved by her students and her classroom was a place of warmth and encouragement, where every student felt valued and respected. Sandy’s dedication to her students went beyond the curriculum; she often went above and beyond to ensure their success, even personally investing in their growth and development.

Sandy's passions extended to her hobbies as well. She enjoyed gardening, drawing, and making jewelry, putting her heart and soul into each creative endeavor.

Upon becoming a grandmother to Aubrie and later to her youngest grandchild, Easton, Sandy's heart overflowed with love and joy. Despite facing challenges later in life, including her husband's passing and her own health struggles with Alzheimer's disease, Sandy's spirit remained unbroken. Her family rallied around her, providing love and support every step of the way.

As Sandy peacefully passed away on February 6, 2024, she left behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and her students. Her impact on the lives of those around her will be felt for years to come, as she continues to inspire others with her kindness and resilience.
