Sandra's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sandra (Sandy) Engum, loving wife, mother, grandmother and a remarkable woman.
Sandra Carol Engum (Schucker) or better known as Sandy, 76, of Lakeland, FL passed away surrounded by her loved ones on September 24th, 2025 in Almont MI.
Sandy was born on December 25th, 1948 to James and Elizabeth Schucker in Urbana, IL. After Graduating from Kimball Highschool in Royal Oak, MI she then furthered her education at Central Michigan University earning a degree. In her youth she built and sailed her own sailboat, she also competed in an aviation competition with her mother, Elizabeth. Later on in life she owned and operated Westwood Designs Embroidery Company. She also enjoyed riding motorcycles with her friends.
Sandy was mother to three children Elizabeth (Libby) Oliver (Jake), Rexford (Rex) Beasaw IV (Emily), and Laurisa Machnak (Mike). Sandy was Grandmother to Jasen Oliver, Jaden Oliver, Elyla (Lyla) Oliver, Jaxen Oliver, Maliko Beasaw, Cole Doty, Rexford (Rexy) Beasaw V, Blaize Beasaw, Nevaeh Machnak and Landen Machnak. Sandy was a stepmother to Kenneth (Kenny) Engum Jr, Terrainna Frey, Chevonne Tobin, and Laura Engum. Sandy was a step-grandmother to Jessica, Honey, Dalton, Raina, Grant and Aleah. Sandy was the step-great grandmother of Adrian. Additionally, Sandy was the sister to James (Jim) Schucker, Anne Jahn (Mike).
On Christmas Eve of 2013, Sandy met her soulmate, Kenneth Engum, they were then married just 4 months later on April 19th, 2014 in Mackinaw City, MI. A few years later Kenn and Sandy became Snowbirds moving to Polk City, FL. Eventually moving to their forever home in Lakeland, FL. Together they enjoyed attending their grandchildren's sporting events and enjoyed playing music every Sunday at their church. They also enjoyed playing music at the Aura Jamboree every year in Aura, MI. They enjoyed singing and playing music at senior centers in Florida and in Michigan.
Sandy’s faith inspired so many of her friends and family, she was a passionate God fearing woman who believed in every passage of the gospel. She always planted seeds of faith in everyone she met and loved.
Sandy was known for her warm and caring personality and beautiful smile. She had a generous heart, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Sandy’s memory will be forever cherished by her family and friends. Her legacy as a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a friend will endure, and her spirit will continue to inspire us all. In our hearts, she lives on, and we will forever honor the legacy of this remarkable woman who made a lasting impact on the world.
