Pete's obituary
Samuel Samuel Thurston, also fondly known as Pete, who was called to eternal rest on May 6, 2025, his 72nd birthday. Born on May 6, 1953, Pete's vibrant life was marked by his enjoyable humor, sarcasm and devotion to his family especially his grandbabies! His untimely departure leaves an indelible void in our hearts.
Pete's first love was his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Terry Hazel, and his daughters, Ashley Thurston(husband Gary), Missy Reeves,Nikki Thurston, and Jennifer Hicks as well has his son Samuel Thurston. Pete was a doting grandfather to his grandchildren Tyler Reeves, Abby Kveragas, Natalie Thurston, Kolby Campbell,Kayla Kueny and Brandon Kueny as well as many brothers sisters and extended family. He was predeceased by his mother Jean Thurston, his brother Ron Thurston, his sister Jean Thurston, and his brother Tom Thurston.
Pete’s personality was a delightful amalgamation of sarcasm and dark jokes. In his young life, Pete enjoyed various recreation activities such as fishing, playing sports, doing repairs to the home and cars, and working in his garden. He was also a proud member of the Teamsters. As he grew older and unable to do as much, he enjoyed watching tv, especially football and the news, doing crossword puzzles and reading the daily newspaper as well as spending time with his family.
His love for any Philly sports team especially the Philadelphia Eagles was unparalleled. He was particularly fond of oldies music. Pete had a taste for simple pleasures, his favorite drinks being Lemonade and Sambuca. A food aficionado, Pete always enjoyed well-cooked beef and had a sweet tooth. His favorite vacation spot was Wildwood, New Jersey with the family but loved being a homebody most.
Pete's life was abundant with the love of his family, his passion for his hobbies, and his dedication to those he loved. He will forever be remembered and missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His laughter, words of wisdom, and incredible ability to listen echo in our hearts, reminding us of the stamp he left on our hearts. We mourn his loss, yet celebrate the life he led, and that he is now out of pain. His legacy lives on in those he loved.
Pete was indeed a unique soul, cherished by us. He will be profoundly missed. His memory will forever live on and he will always be loved, remembered and profoundly missed by us all.
