Samuel's obituary
Our dear Samuel flew away from this world on Saturday May 10th 2025. He left of his own accord on his terms.
Sam always kept his inner essence-spark -ALIVE!!!!! He was a very bright spirit and shared this enthusiasm with many!
Sam was blessed to grow up in a very large extended family -made up of the Rowse and Kirk families. He had very loving grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Family gatherings were frequent and large!Always a birthday or holiday to celebrate!
He grew up enjoying the outdoors and nature, camping and hiking in the summers, snowboarding in winter. When he was only 2 years old, I had him in a backpack out for a springwalk with his brother Kevin. I was teaching Kevin all of the names of the flowers we saw on our walk. When I spied the shooting stars, I told Kevin "Oh that's one of my favorite. There are the shooting stars!" Then from behind me in my ear, I heard a little "shoo-tar,shoo-tar", Sam was learning the names also! He loved walking outdoors barefoot-even in the cold.
He and his brother Kevin loved skiing and then snowboarding, spending every day possible on the slopes of Mt. Spokane and then on to the Colorado resorts and beyond -as far as Japan!
Sam met many friends in Boulder, CO and through snowboarding-friendships that would be anchors for him in life. His snowboarding family was very important and he gave and received greatly.
Sam was a very loving son and of a sensitive nature. At an early age he showed his very funny sense of humor, having us all laughing!
He could get a whole crowd laughing and did!
Sam was extremely artistic and used that talent to design the artwork on snowboards. He was not afraid of creating big art pieces, one of his earliest being painted on an old school room chalkboard he found dumped outside on one of his walks. He had a wonderful sense of color and created modern and interesting paintings.
Sam had a very tender heart and he shared that love with all and especially when he sensed others were in need. Some said he was the kindest person they had ever met. He lived life wholeheartedly.... encouraging others.
We have honored Sam in memorials at Spirit Lake, ID and Nederland,CO. He left his imprint on all of us.... and continues to.................................................................................*
