Samuel's obituary
Samuel L. Keiffer, at the age of 92, passed away in the early afternoon of Thursday, September 7th, 2023. Prior to being in the care of the memory care staff at Neffsville Nursing & Rehabilitation in Lancaster, PA, he lived with his wife in Hershey, PA for many years. Born in Steelton to Samuel Keiffer Sr. and his loving wife Lina Chapman Keiffer, he was raised in a modest home with one older brother and sister. After graduating high school, he enrolled in the national guard, and was assigned to be an accountant during the Korean War. Once his term of service was completed, he was given a partial scholarship to the Peabody Conservatory of Music, to study classical vocal performance. He would later be employed by Bethlehem Steel for many years, while raising his eldest daughter Francie, two sons John and Sammy, and later a second daughter, Carrie.
A simple and honest man, he loved music, baseball (always rooting for the Orioles), raising his pet lovebirds, going for walks that put cars to shame, and above all else, his wife Gamble. He was known for putting on a curmudgeonly act and then swiftly turning around and giving you money to go see a movie and of course "bring him back any change".
He is survived by his wife, Gamble Keiffer, his sons John and Sammy Keiffer, his daughters Francie and Carrie Keiffer, and many grandchildren. He joins his older sister Kathryn "Tootie" Keiffer Falcone, older brother, and both loving parents in rest.
