Samuel Fisher, age 23, of Fort Collins, CO passed away on September 17, 2022  in a mid-air plane crash in Boulder County. His loss was completely unexpected and his family is shocked and deeply saddened. Sam was born on January 30, 1999 in Phoenix, Arizona. Sam was a beloved son, brother, partner and friend. Sam was the brightest star in our galaxy, the most beautiful flower in our garden and the loudest laughter in our lives. His positive energy radiated and touched so many. His infectious laughter and smile will never be forgotten.

Sam attended Poudre High School in Fort Collins, CO. He was an exceptional student and athlete. He excelled in high school track and continued his education at Colorado State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise. He was just beginning his adult life beyond graduating college. Sam was a practicing EMT and had started pursuing his dream of becoming a pilot. Sam always craved adventure so his love of flying was no surprise.

He had so much to offer the world and was undoubtedly going to achieve great things. His greatest achievements were the friendships he built and the love he shared with those who knew him. Sam befriended everyone he met, he danced to every song he heard and he loved with every ounce of his being. It was impossible not to love Sam. He was a once-in-a-lifetime soul and the world will not be the same without him.

Hold the ones you love close and dance with them to every song because that’s what Sam would want you to do. May we carry on his legacy forever, loving deeply and living every day to its fullest. Sam’s family and friends will miss him more than words can express.

Contributions can be made in memory of Sam to the Matthew Shepard Foundation whose mission aligns with Sam's passion for inclusivity and love for all. There will be a Celebration of Life held at The Rist Canyon Inn in Laporte, CO on October 2, 2022. If you knew Sam, please come and celebrate his beautiful life.
