Sam's obituary
Samuel Tailor Billings (Sam) was a Memphis-born spirit with a passion for exploring new things in life. His story began on June 17, 1993, in Memphis, TN. Sam was a thrill seeker, an outdoorsman, a talented athlete, a lover of music, and above all, a passionate father to his daughter.
On the morning of July 24, 2023, Sam passed away in his sleep, leaving a void in the hearts of his loved ones. He is survived by his daughter, Rosalie Tailor Billings, his parents Bobby and Renee Billings, brother Elliott Billings (Brandi), sister Jessica Markley (Bill), brother Steele Billings (Jacqueline), along with five nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his older brother, Montana Billings who passed away tragically in 2015.
The thing that Sam cherished the most in life was his beautiful 4-year-old daughter, Rosalie. His face would light up every time he spoke of her. He loved taking her on play dates, teaching her about the world, reading her bedtime stories, and letting her do his makeup. Sam was a devoted father who found true happiness in his little girl.
Sam Billings, born as the youngest of five siblings in Memphis, TN, was raised in a Christian home, and was always eager to understand God’s love more. Of the five kids, Sam was the most naturally gifted athlete, with baseball, golf, and dirt biking being his passions. An adventurous soul, Sam was always the first to take risks or dive headfirst into new experiences. Anyone who grew up with Sam will affirm that he was always the one who would try the risky things thought up as kids first just simply out of fearlessness.
Those who knew Sam knew that he was unique. He was a genuine friend, always eager to lend a hand or share a joke. He had an infectious smile and an even more infectious laugh, brightening up any room he entered.
A celebration of Sam's life will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, August 5th, at Bellevue Baptist Church with a visitation beginning at 11:00 AM. Bellevue Baptist Church is located at 2000 Appling Road in Cordova, TN 38016.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to a fund established for Rosie's future education: https://www.gofundme.com/f/ro…
We will forever cherish the beautiful memories Sam left us with and his spirit will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched.
Rest in peace, dear Sam, until we meet again.
