Samdai Roopnarine, 83, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, 12 May, 2020.

Samdai was born on 25 December 1936 in Penal, Trinidad and Tobago, to Bhajan and Rookmin Doolar. She met and married her husband of 51 years, Roopnarine Balgobin , in 1955 and went on to have 9 children. She devoted her life to raising her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband and her son, Narine Roopnarine. She is survived by her eight children, Goomatie, Seeta, Mala, Namchan, Tarran, Deepnarine, Gayadeen, and Anand, thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Samdai will be cremated on Saturday, 16 May, 2020 at Spring Grove Funeral Homes in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Samdai lived a long and fulfilling life and had several hobbies and interests throughout her lifetime. She was known to plan elaborate excursions to the beaches of Trinidad with her sisters and cousins. Samdai and her sisters were very musical and they would often perform at wedding houses for various couples and families. Samdai was also a trained midwife and a valued figure in her community.

Of all her passions, Samdai’s greatest joys in life were the simple things – cooking and caring for her family and loved ones. She took great strides to make sure her children and grandchildren were well-educated and had bright futures ahead for them. She will be greatly missed by all.
