When Sal returned from the service, he went to work in the retail grocery business, where he met and fell in love with Haydee Gomez. They married in 1954 and made a life with their four children in Silverlake, South El Monte, Highland Park, and La Crescenta. Sal and Haydee were married for 60 years until Haydee passed in 2014. Sal worked in the grocery business for 33 years and later became a business agent with the Retail Clerks Union until he retired.
Sal is survived by his children, Salvador L. (Diane), H. Jeanette, Julio (Rondi) and Sandra, his brother Mario, along with 13 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Haydee, sister Connie, brother Julio and his parents. Sal was active singing in the choir Holy Redeemer Church in Montrose and also volunteered countless hours at St. Francis High School. He will be forever missed for his sense of humor, friendliness and loving demeanor.
