Sally's obituary
Sally Frances Ross Muccio, age 59, passed away on December 21, 2020. She was born on June 16, 1961
in Miami Beach and lived almost all her life in Miami. She was a graduate of Carrollton School of the
Sacred Heart and Emory University. She was also a Miami-Dade County teacher for a few years in the
late 1980s.
The first thing everyone always says about Sally is how sweet she was. She was also loving, kind, and
generous by nature with a smile and greeting for friends and strangers alike no matter their background
or economic status. How many of us would sit on a bench outside the grocery store with a homeless
woman and have a conversation not once, but each time she saw her, to make her day a little brighter?
On her daily walks to the neighborhood shopping plaza, she would greet everyone from children to the
elderly in English or Spanish. Countless people knew Sally, and she knew them, too. She remembered
who was having a baby, who was getting married, and much more. She told them all about her
daughter, the joy of her life, and her husband of more than 30 years who was her life partner.
Sally had asthma from a very young age, but despite every illness, challenge, or tragedy that came her
way, she woke up every morning with a positive attitude and love for everyone. She set a shining
example of how to treat people, and we can only hope to be half the person she was if we really try. We
were fortunate to be in her life and will miss her forever.
Sally was the daughter of H. J. Ross and Donna Guilfoyle Ross. She is survived by her husband
Craig Van Thomas Muccio and their daughter Donna Irene Muccio, her sister Julie Ross Myers, her
stepmother Audrey Ross Culbertson, and her stepsister Melissa Jackson Loree.
