Sallie Soon Ja Shitara passed away March 13, 2021 at the age of 60 after battling cancer. She was a beloved teacher of over 30 years and has touched many lives in her career with her infectious sense of humor and joy. She was a devoted follower of Christ and was an active member of Bethel Grace Baptist Church in Bellflower, CA.

She was adopted from Korea by her father and mother, Steven and Susan Parrick, and had the blessing of steadfast relationships with her family in both Korea and America. She was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Parrick, and her brother, Lee Tae Young. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Tom Shitara; her daughters, Jessica Shitara and Grace Shitara; her father, Steven Parrick; brothers and sisters, Lee Chong Ja, Lee Sook Ja, Lee Chun Young, Lee In Ja, Lee Won Young, Chong Cha Factor, Richard Parrick, Kristine Chapman, and Mark Parrick; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will take place in a semi-private service on March 28, 2021 at 3pm, but will also be live streamed for those who cannot attend in person.
