Salees's obituary
Salees Dixon was born on March 26, 1985, in Gary, Indiana, to Wylene and Nelson
(Chico) Dixon. At the tender age of nine, she was baptized in 1991 by the late Pastor Herbert
Guice who was joined in the baptismal pool by, most notably Deacon Frank Darby, Jr., who is
now the Pastor of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. As a youth in Bethel, Salees joined the
Youth Usher Board and served faithfully.
Salees lived a life marked by strength, faith, and unwavering determination. Salees achieved
many milestones in her life. She graduated from Merritt College High School in 2003 and
throughout her life, she worked in a variety of roles, including positions at Tesla, Southwest
Airlines, and Macy’s. She always approached her work with dedication and purpose, driven by
her desire to provide for her family. Salees loved to cook, listen to music, and travel.
More than anything, Salees loved spending time with family and friends,
creating memories filled with joy, warmth, and love. Salees was a devoted mother to her two
sons, Edd’Waun Tatum Jr. and Jaylen Watson. She dedicated her life to her children and to
those she cared for, always offering a listening ear, a kind word, and a comforting embrace.
Salees’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and generosity. Her loving presence in the lives of all
who knew her continued until her passing on October 28, 2025, at the tender age of 40.
Salees leaves to cherish her memory, her two beloved children, Edd’Waun Tatum Jr. and Jayleon
Watson and a host of family and friends.
