As a reminder, a Celebration of Life / Memorial event will be held for Said the evening of Friday, January 9th, at Haw Creek Commons in Asheville. Food will be served at 6pm, followed by sharing of memories and speakers, and a community gathering and reception with music around 8:15-8:30pm.

Update from Dec. 16, 2025

A Celebration of Life / Memorial event will be held for Said the evening of Friday, January 9th, at Haw Creek Commons in Asheville.
More specific details to come soon!

Said cared deeply about community involvement and activism, and about making the world a better place. He often turned small social gatherings into small fundraisers. In honor of Said, we are collecting funds to distribute to Root Cause Farm, an org local to his home in Fairview that Said volunteered and worked with for many years, as well as to Gaza Soup Kitchen, an org distributing much needed aid on the ground in Gaza, and which Said has helped raise money for in the past. There will be completely optional opportunities to contribute to these causes at the Celebration of Life event, as well as a link on this site.
