Saba's obituary

Officially known as Saba Kidane but affectionately called Mimi, Sabiti, Mantiti by family and friends.  Born of father Kidane Adgoy and mother Asrat Yohannes, was raised in Addis Ababa by her father and stepmother Shashework Gebrekristos…..

Saba completed her elementary and high school education in Nazareth school, Addis Abebe, which was informing the basis for her character in addition to what she got from her family.  Nazareth school was also the place were she formed close friendship with those class mates that formed the core of her friends that has stayed strong till today.

When she joined highschool, Saba, always Mimi to her close friends, used to say:

"When I complete my education, I will  build my own business and will be my own boss."

Resolution, she later achieved.

After completion her degree of bachelor of business administration from Haile Selassie first university (today Addis Ababa University), she joined Ethiopian electric light and power authority.  She then moved to a position at ministry of foreign trade, were she worked for a few years.  She resigned to achieve her dream of starting her own business.

Saba was a mentor and nurturer , not only to her younger sisters and brothers, but also to her nephew, nieces  and also their children.  Saba loved children and it was this love of young kids that was the driving factor of her opening Kidun Kindergarten.

Over 3 decades, many children were educated at the KG with much love and dedication.  She had a lot of love for children, encouraged their curiosity and enjoyed their creativeness.  It brought her many years of joy and pride to see the children grow, many of whom returned to thank her for it.

As a person, Saba had impeccable integrity and solid character.  She was not overly religious but enjoyed going to church, preferably mid-week when there is no service for quiet moments of reflection.  She spoke her truth and stood her ground with courage, even when it went against public opinion, firm in her belief in herself and her position.  She became a deep example to her siblings and her son Yonatan, living life as the best example of principled kindness and integrity.
