Ryuji's obituary

Ryuji Raye Jackson, 20, of Turner, Oregon, passed away on August 6, 2025. He was born on July 21, 2005, in Salem, Oregon, to Luna and Jestahn Jackson.

Ryuji is survived by his brother, Ryonen Jackson, his sister, Ryoko Jackson, his parents, grandparents aunts and uncles. He also leaves behind countless friends whose lives were brighter because of him.

Ryuji worked in landscaping with Synergy, his first and only career, where he poured his strength, dedication, and pride into his work. He was also a beloved member of the Canterbury Renaissance Faire, where he held the title of Baron and worked tirelessly to earn recognition in the court year after year an accomplishment he carried with great joy. Fiercely independent, Ryuji always did things early, from working to driving, carving his own path with determination.

From the time he was young, Ryuji showed extraordinary talents. He was a skilled swordsman, a gifted artist, and an avid reader who collected every book from The 39 Clues and Magic Tree House series. He was a master at video games. Ryuji was so very helpful around the house, and with his grandparents home. He was known for his fiery red hair, goofy humor, boundless energy, and love for voices and theatrics, he had a way of filling every room with laughter. His favorite childhood companion was his dog, Bongo, who matched his spirit of loyalty and playfulness, and his older brother Ryonen who was always by his side and his best friend.

His brother Ryonen recalls one of his earliest memories: giving Ryuji the shoes off his feet so he could be outside and play. Years later, Ryuji’s mischievous side shone when he “accidentally” shot Ryonen in the eye recently with a Nerf dart nearly blinding him, leaving him a pirate for weeks, a story that makes everyone laugh. These memories capture the heart of who Ryuji was funny, playful, and unforgettable.

Though his life ended far too soon, Ryuji’s jokes, laughter, and light will never be forgotten. His passing was the result of tragic suicide. This is a reminder from his family of how deeply important mental health is, especially for young men. Too often, struggles remain hidden behind smiles, and words that go unspoken. In honor of Ryuji, we ask that you check in with the young people in your life. Tell them you love them. Remind them that their lives matter and that they are never alone. Your voice, your care, and your love could save a life.

Public and private services are being planned, with dates for the public gathering to be shared on Ryonen Jackson’s Facebook page once finalized.
